Alenka Slokar Bajc, soprano, professor of music and classical singing studied at the University of Ljubljana Academy of Music, the Department of Music Education and the Department of Singing. After graduation she continued her singing education at the Mozarteum Academy of Music and Performing Art in Salzburg.
She continued her career as a soloist with lead roles in operas and operettas staged in Europe. Already as a student she received several awards in national singing competitions and attended various masterclasses with renowned professors such as Richard Miller, Helena Lazarska, Marjana Lipovšek, Alfred Burgstaler, Kurt Widmer, Grace Bumbray, Dunja Vejzović and others. She participated in festivals as a soloist with various chamber ensembles and sang in orchestral settings.
She is the first signing member for the acceptance of the Association of Slovenian Voice Teachers into the European Voice Teachers Association, in Oslo, Norway.
Currently, she focuses on young vocalists and shares her rich knowledge and experiences at her Private singing ASB Academy and at the Music School Ljubljana Vič – Rudnik, Slovenia. Besides many solo and chamber projects during the years, she also staged Slovenian operetta “Čevljar in vrag” , W. A. Mozart's operas “Cosi Fan Tutte” and ”Le Nozze di Figaro” with her students singing all the roles. The performances were in cooperation with The University of Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT), The Academy of Music Orchestra, guest musicians from the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Radio Orchestra and in cooperation with other guest musicians. All performances were released on DVDs and gained national and international praise.
Her students are recipients of national and international awards and very successful in auditioning for operas, concert roles and competitions around the world.
Every year she organizes masterclasses including functional training achieving correct diaphragmatic breathing control.
